How to convert abortion workers

The annual National March for Life in Ottawa provided lots of opportunity for interesting reporting.  Here’s a link to one of my stories.

David Bereit, founder and national director of 40 Days for Life, shared some tips with pro-life high school students on how to convert abortion workers to the pro-life cause.

In a workshop at the Youth Conference May 10 held after the National March for Life, Bereit agreed it is “hard not to see those people as the enemy,” noting a widespread view that they are “killers,” “cold, calculating, and money driven.”

“We view them as the problem,” he said. “They are not the enemy. They are victims of the enemy. The enemy is Satan.”

“Many got into the abortion industry because they thought they were helping people,” he said. Others got into it because they needed a job. But it’s an awful job with an extremely high turnover, he said.

Those in the pro-life movement have to understand how abortion workers view them, he said. They see us as self-righteous, judgmental, and trying to take away rights from women.

“We have to show them a face of love,” he said. “We need to love them the way God loves them. We need to look at them as His children, made in His likeness.”
