Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI writes an atheist

Heh heh heh.  I love you, Papa Benedict!

“The remarks you make about Jesus are not worthy of your scientific standing.

Presenting Jesus as if we knew nothing about Him and as though nothing certain could be said about his status as a historical figure, I can only advise you and strongly so, to be a little bit more thorough in your historical research.

I especially recommend you to read the four volume work co-written by Martin Hengel (an exegete of the Faculty of Protestant theology at Tübingen university) and Maria Schwemer.

It is an excellent example of historical precision and extensive historical information.

In comparison to this, your comments about Jesus appear rash and should not be repeated.”

  1. Catholic people should read the whole article by the lay Catholic Jimmy Akin! Indeed Ratzinger/Benedict is still the ‘pastor-teacher-theolog’! So nice to see Ratzinger support good Protestant scholarship, and call-out non-Christian and poor historical so-called scholarship. Now here is pastoral and theological leadership!

  3. little flower says:

BXVI commends a Protestant *and* a woman! What kind of archconservative is he, anyway? 😉

Won’t hold my breath to see a MSM headline highlighting that..

    • People don’t really care now so-much what Benedict/Ratzinger does, since he left the Chair of Peter, but Catholics now have to live with this overt-eclectic “Francis”! Ugh, for us conservatives, and surely even Catholic conservatives also! Indeed what is coming next?
