A baby shower for a new Trolly

Our parish held a baby shower for Rebecca and Michael Trolly on  Sunday.  Unfortunately, I was unable to attend as I was en route to Ottawa from  Boston.  I sure would like to have been there.

Michael’s mother came with a sleeper Michael had worn as a baby and his little teddy bear.

The baby Trolly is named Robert.  As Rebecca explained on Facebook recently:

To all my SWU friends, yes we are naming our child after Dr. Robert Black. To all my Anglo-Catholics friend, we naming him after Fr. Robert Mercer. And for those in the Ottawa Catholic area, naming after Fr. Robert Bedard. As one can see, Robert is most ecumenical name for us.

Michael Trolly is our former deacon, by the way. He is a gifted musician and songwriter, cantor and organist. His wife Rebecca is also well-versed in theology and comes from a Wesleyan background.

Congratulations to Michael and Rebecca from the Sodality of the Good Shepherd, Oshawa. Our prayers are always with them in our mass intercessions.

Speaking of celebrations, are you not expecting the ordination of your former rector on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception?

    • Foolishness says:

No, our former rector will not be ordained on Dec. 8 as we had hoped. We’re hoping for late January now. I will let everyone know when we have a definite date. In the meantime, the silver lining is that Archbishop Terrence Prendergast will celebrate our Christmas Eve Mass for us. Of course he will tease us because then he will head off to a “real” midnight Mass at his cathedral.

What about the other ordination initially scheduled on the same day?

This is a major disappointment, but all things will come to pass in God’s time. On the other hand, the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul (25 January) would be a great day for his ordination….

Do you happen to know if Peter Wilkinson’s ordination is still scheduled for 08 December or is also delayed?

        Norm.

  5. Yes, (former Bishop) Peter Wilkinson is still on to be
ordained Catholic deacon on (I believe) Dec. 6th, and priest on the 8th.

If so, it’s very likely that there will be two public announcements after communion at the mass of ordination on the 8th: (1) the canonical erection of a deanery of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter with the territory of Canada (Deanery of St. John the Baptist?) and (2) the appointment of the newly ordained Fr. Peter Wilkinson as its first dean. The dean probably also will be named a Prelate of Honor (the second rank of monsignori) in due course, but NOT at the mass of ordination.

      Norm.
